Description

The Director of Procurement is responsible for managing the company's procurement processes to ensure cost-effective purchasing of all finished goods, raw materials, supplies, equipment, and services. This role involves developing procurement strategies, negotiating contracts, implementing forecasting models, sourcing new suppliers, and maintaining current supplier relationships to ensure the timely and cost-efficient delivery of high-quality goods. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring that the company’s procurement processes are efficient, cost-effective, and aligned with business objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee inventory management teams to ensure the timely and efficient delivery of products and raw materials.

  • Responsible for developing demand planning and forecasting models with input from Sales and Operations to develop a production plan for our contract suppliers.

  • Manage the procurement process to avoid stock outs and overstock situations, as well as achieve company turn goals.

  • Collaborate with supply chain teams to optimize logistics and distribution.

  • Formulate and implement effective procurement strategies in line with company objectives.

  • Identify potential suppliers, evaluate their capabilities, and negotiate contracts to ensure favorable terms.

  • Understand cost accounting to help control costs and engage in strategic planning to improve cost efficiency.

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers.

  • Work with Product Development and Operations on new product timelines, costing, material certifications and timely arrival from suppliers.

  • Monitor supplier performance and resolve issues related to quality, delivery, and pricing.

  • Conduct regular supplier evaluations and audits to ensure compliance with company standards.

  • Negotiate terms and conditions, rebates, and discount programs with suppliers to secure the best possible deals.

  • Continuously identify and capture opportunities for PBIT improvements

  • Draft and manage contracts to ensure adherence to legal and company requirements.

  • Develop and manage procurement budgets.

  • Analyze market trends and conditions to identify opportunities for cost savings.

  • Implement cost control strategies and ensure procurement activities stay within budget.

  • Ensure all procurement activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.

  • Work with Product Development and QC to ensure compliance to standards.

  • Lead sustainability efforts in support of environmental requirements and customer demand

  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with the procurement process.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of procurement activities.

  • Lead and manage the procurement team, providing guidance and support.

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the procurement department.

  • Conduct performance reviews and provide training to enhance team capabilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, or a related field preferred

  • Relevant certification (e.g., Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM)) a plus.

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in procurement within the Apparel industry, with at least 5 years in a managerial role

  • Ability to travel, including internationally, to visit existing and potential suppliers

  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.

  • Ability to communicate & collaborate with the executive management team

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Strong understanding of supply chain management and logistics.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

  • Knowledge of contract law and procurement regulations.

Kishigo California salary range:  125K-155K plus bonus eligibility based on experience, education and geographic location.
