BUNZL Purchasing Supervisor in Riverside, Missouri

Description

As a Sr. Buyer, 50% of your day will be spent filling the role of purchasing ambassador for your assigned portfolio of top tier high volume Suppliers ensuring accurate and timely flow of both information and supply. You will work with directly with vendors to create sustainable and successful partnerships to add value for our vendors, our customers, and our company.

The remaining 50% of your time will be geared towards people management and development as you oversee a team of Junior Buyers and Purchasing Administrators. In this role you will own the metrics and performance of your team and you will develop the leadership skills necessary to advance into leadership roles with larger scope and financial responsibility within the company.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with Purchasing Manager to define and execute purchasing strategy

  • Support and oversees a team of Junior Buyers and Purchasing Administration

  • Maintain and drive improvement on key purchasing and service metrics included on team scorecard

  • Establish and maintains a positive working relationship with suppliers. Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.

  • Negotiate pricing and lead times according to knowledge of the market

  • Prepare standard purchase orders and works with corporate Strategic Sourcing to establish favorable blanket purchase orders

  • Report, interpret, and drive improvement of key performance indicators

  • Resolve inventory, invoice, or other discrepancies in a timely manner

  • Approve invoices for payment

  • Expedite delivery of goods to users

  • Participate in various continuous improvement projects as required

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • High School diploma required

  • BS Degree Preferred

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in Purchasing required without Degree.

  • Proven track record of simplifying large, complex problems with multiple data sources & techniques to reveal data-driven insights & actionable solutions that drive business results

  • Must be able to multi-task and must be detail oriented

  • Must be a problem solver and demonstrate good negotiation skills

  • Strong negotiation, decision making and organizational skills

  • Working knowledge of Purchasing related duties and responsibilities

  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel and Outlook
